Position Overview:
The Trim Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and validation of automotive interior and/or exterior trim components. This role supports prototype and production programs by working cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and program teams to ensure high-quality, cost-effective trim solutions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design and develop automotive trim components (interior/exterior plastics, soft trim, panels, etc.)
• Create and modify CAD models (CATIA/NX/SolidWorks) for trim systems and assemblies
• Support prototype builds, tooling development, and launch activities
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams on feasibility, tooling, and process improvements
• Lead or support DFMEA, PFMEA, and DVP&R activities
• Interface with customers (OEMs/suppliers) to review design requirements and changes
• Manage engineering changes, releases, and documentation (BOMs, drawings, specs)
• Troubleshoot design and build issues during prototype and production phases
• Ensure compliance with quality, cost, and timing targets

Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• 2–5+ years of experience in automotive trim or plastics engineering
• Experience with injection molding, tooling, and trim materials
• Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA preferred in automotive)
• Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering release processes
• Ability to work in a fast-paced prototype / low-volume manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with automotive OEMs (Ford, GM, Stellantis, etc.)
• Knowledge of Class A surfaces and interior fit/finish requirements
• Exposure to launch environments or rapid prototyping
• Familiarity with APQP processes
Work Environment
• Combination of office, engineering lab, and shop floor
• Frequent interaction with tooling, fabrication, and assembly teams
