Position Overview
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing facility. This role supports plant operations by ensuring workspaces, offices, and common areas meet cleanliness and safety standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub plant floors and work areas
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, breakrooms, and offices
- Empty trash and recycling throughout production and office areas
- Dust and wipe surfaces, windows, and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of entryways and common areas
- Keep production floor clean and free of debris
- Assist with spill cleanup and basic housekeeping on plant floor
- Clean around machinery and workstations as required
- Restock janitorial and restroom supplies
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervision
- Follow all safety policies and proper chemical handling procedures
- Support general facility upkeep and organization
- Perform minor tasks like changing light bulbs or moving supplies when needed
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Previous janitorial/custodial experience in manufacturing or industrial setting preferred
- Ability to lift 25lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, bending, walking)
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or with a team
- Automotive/manufacturing facility
- Exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial cleaning environments
- May require PPE and adherence to plant safety standards
