Overview
We are seeking a skilled Development Dynamometer Technician with strong automotive mechanical experience to support engine development testing. This role involves setting up and operating an engine test cell, instrumenting engines, monitoring tests, performing health checks, and handling engine removal post-test. The technician will support programs involving engine mapping, combustion analysis, emissions testing, and mechanical/power development.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Set up and prepare engines for development testing
• Install and maintain test instrumentation
• Operate the dynamometer and monitor engine tests in real time
• Perform routine engine health checks during test cycles
• Remove and process engines after test completion
• Support development programs including mapping, combustion analysis, emissions, and power/mechanical testing
Qualifications/Desired Skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of automotive mechanical experience
• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
• Proficiency with computers, including MS Office
• Experience with dynamometer controls
• Must provide own tools and rolling toolbox
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
• Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and customer service abilities
• Associate degree or technical training in an automotive-related field
• Engine teardown and build experience; ability to follow assembly manuals
• Experience in powertrain calibration, diagnostics, or controls
• Ability to perform simple fabrication tasks
• Experience with AVL PUMA 2.0 and/or A&D iTest dynamometer control systems
