Synergy Solutions is hiring a dependable Metallurgical Weld Engineer for trade assignments with leading employers. Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all validation testing for GMAW and friction welding.
- Team with other Metallurgical Engineer, Area Managers, Union Stewards, Support personnel and other Leadership to constructively solve operational issues that both meet the business goals and the intent of the current contract.
- Work with other Metallurgist, MET lab operations, lab technicians and provide the technical support to the welding operations, metallurgical process controls and other areas as needed.
- Develop and validate process parameters for new product launches to ensure compliance to customer, engineering, and quality requirements.
- Apply knowledge of metallurgy to recommend engineering and manufacturing changes to attain design objectives in the most economical manner possible.
- Review Weld Metallurgical testing records and trend weld data.
- Develop all process parameters for magnetic arc and friction welding.
- Develop and manage welding process controls.
- Create and maintain weld evaluation documentation and reports.
- Manage continuous improvement projects utilizing the DOS tools and methodology aimed to improve safety, quality, increase productivity, reduce downtime, and reduce scrap.
- On time engineering change implementation.
- -Interact successfully with Dana's launch teams.
- Interact successfully with customer engineering and SQE representatives.
- Adhere to Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies.
- Support EOL and Diamond Board activities.
- Understand and follow all required DOS Standards.
- Any other tasks deemed necessary by Management.
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in a technical field and/or 5 years engineering experience in an automotive part manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of quality tools/techniques (APQP, SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, TS-16949, 3 path 5 why, 8D etc.)
- Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack analysis, gage design and check fixture follow-up activities including Gage R&Rs.
- Knowledge of automotive customer websites including Covisint.
- Knowledge of plant manufacturing processes.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Effective communication skills. Physical & Mental Demands:
- Familiarity with Compliant Pro.
- Understanding of PLM Databases.
- May be required to work extended hours on occasion.
- Periodic travel.
- International travel/passport required.
