Position Overview:
This position will apply knowledge of automotive diagnostic systems, vehicle electronics, and ECU programming to develop guided flash procedures that help dealership technicians complete vehicle service actions accurately and efficiently.
The position is fully onsite and operates Monday through Friday during standard business hours, approximately 40 hours per week.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and define processes for creating ECU flash scripts using wiTECH Studio.
• Author flash scripts for existing vehicle service actions.
• Create flash scripts for new service actions as needed.
• Develop guided ECU programming procedures that assist dealership technicians in successfully completing required service actions.
• Apply automotive diagnostic knowledge to support ECU programming and vehicle service processes.
• Analyze vehicle communication and diagnostic information to identify and resolve technical challenges.
• Collaborate with technical team members to ensure diagnostic procedures are accurate, efficient, and easy to follow.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when developing diagnostic and programming procedures.
• Support continuous improvement of diagnostic processes, tools, and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with automotive diagnostic scan tools; five or more years preferred.
• Experience with ECU reprogramming and automotive diagnostic procedures.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of automotive electrical architectures and vehicle communication systems.
• Familiarity with automotive service action development processes and authoring tools.
• Experience working in a dealership service department or automotive repair environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of automotive communication systems, including CAN, J1850, and K-Line.
• Familiarity with diagnostic communication protocols such as KWP2000 and UDS.
• Experience with Vector diagnostic tools, including CANalyzer and CANdela, is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and other stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field preferred.
