Position Overview
This role is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC press brake equipment to produce high-quality metal components that meet engineering and customer specifications. This position supports prototype and low-volume production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment serving automotive, aerospace, and advanced engineering programs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform complete setup of CNC and manual press brake machines for new and repeat jobs
- Select and install proper tooling, punches, and dies based on prints and job requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions
- Program CNC press brake controls and verify setups with test bends
- Adjust tonnage, bend sequence, back gauges, and tooling alignment to meet tolerances
- Operate press brake equipment to form metal components to specification
- Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, protractors, and gauges
- Ensure parts meet dimensional and cosmetic quality standards
- Troubleshoot forming issues and make real-time machine adjustments
- Maintain accurate documentation of setup parameters and job tracking
- Perform routine machine maintenance and daily equipment checks
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- 3+ years press brake setup experience required
- Experience with CNC press brakes (Amada, Cincinnati, Bystronic, or similar)
- Prototype or low-volume manufacturing experience preferred
- Automotive or aerospace manufacturing background a plus
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
- Tooling selection and setup expertise
- Knowledge of bend calculations and sequencing
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- High school diploma or GED required
- Trade school or technical training preferred
