Technical Sales Lead
We’re recruiting a professional Technical Sales Lead for a permanent role with a respected client. Position Overview:
This position demands a strong combination of technical expertise and consultative sales capability, along with a deep understanding of automotive manufacturing, quality inspection, and measurement systems. You will manage the full sales cycle across North America—from initial opportunity through close—while maintaining a strong technical focus. Responsibilities include building and managing the pipeline, qualifying opportunities (ROI, budget ownership, and timing), positioning solutions, and executing commercial activities such as quotes, proposals, and contract coordination. Working closely with engineering teams, you will translate customer challenges into clear inspection use cases and compelling business cases that drive adoption and value.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive sales of our 3D AI platform and inspection solutions within the U.S. automotive manufacturing market.
- Develop and manage relationships with OEMs, Tier 1, and Tier 2 automotive suppliers, primarily in Michigan and the Midwest.
- Engage with customer engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to understand inspection and measurement requirements.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concept discussions.
- Collaborate closely with SkillReal’s technical, application, and product teams to define customer solutions.
- Support pre-sales activities including solution design, technical proposals, and ROI/value justification.
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to support business strategy.
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead qualification to contract negotiation and closing.
- Maintain rigorous CRM hygiene: next steps, close plans, competitive posture, and forecast accuracy.
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in technical sales or business development within automotive manufacturing.
- Strong background in automotive parts quality inspection and measurement.
- Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with industrial inspection and measurement systems such as: Cognex/Keyence/Perceptron/Hexagon/Zeiss or similar automated inspection / metrology solution providers.
- Solid understanding of in-line inspection, automated measurement, and quality control processes.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with OEM and Tier 1 automotive customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years in technical B2B sales in automotive manufacturing, metrology/inspection, automation, robotics, or industrial software.
- Technical degree (Engineering, Computer Science, or related field).
- Experience selling software-based or AI-driven manufacturing solutions into Tier 1/Tier 2 automotive manufacturing plants (BIW, welding, fastening, assembly).
- Familiarity with 3D vision, machine vision, metrology, or industrial automation.
- Existing network within the U.S. automotive manufacturing ecosystem.
