Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled CMM Programmer to join our manufacturing quality team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using PC-DMIS software to ensure the dimensional accuracy and quality of manufactured parts. This role requires strong technical skills, precision, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop, test, and optimize CMM measurement programs using PC-DMIS software to inspect parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
• Operate CMM equipment to conduct dimensional inspections and gather accurate measurement data.
• Analyze inspection data, identify deviations or non-conformances, and collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues.
• Maintain and update inspection routines and documentation to reflect changes in product design or manufacturing processes.
• Ensure all CMM equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and operating within specified tolerances.
• Train and support quality technicians and operators in CMM programming and operation as needed.
• Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance measurement processes and product quality.
• Generate detailed inspection reports and communicate findings clearly to internal stakeholders.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards, including ISO or industry-specific requirements.
Qualifications/Desired Skills
• Associate’s degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, Metrology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2-4 years of experience programming and operating CMM machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in PC-DMIS software for creating and editing CMM programs.
• Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and blueprint reading skills.
• Experience with various CMM brands and types (e.g., Mitutoyo, Zeiss, Hexagon) is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Familiarity with quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001) is preferred.
• Primarily working on the manufacturing floor and metrology lab environments.
• Ability to work standing for extended periods and perform detailed inspection tasks.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
