Position Overview:
The CNC Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all CNC machinery is properly maintained and operating at peak performance. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on precision production equipment to minimize downtime and support manufacturing operations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Makino CNC machining centers with Fanuc controls, including both electrical and mechanical systems
• Diagnose and repair Fanuc CNC control systems (servo drives, spindle drives, I/O systems, HMIs, alarms, parameters, and ladder logic)
• Perform advanced diagnostics on CNC components including spindles, ATC systems, pallet changers, ball screws, linear guides, servo motors, encoders, and feedback systems
• Inspect, test, and evaluate CNC equipment to ensure proper operation, alignment, and accuracy
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC machines, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication systems, and auxiliary equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including sensors, proximity switches, safety circuits, relays, contactors, and PLC controls
• Install, align, and maintain machine tool controls, motion systems, and safety interlocks
• Respond quickly to machine downtime issues and restore equipment safely and efficiently
• Coordinate with OEM technicians, contractors, and internal teams to complete repairs with minimal production disruption
• Start up and test equipment following repairs to verify proper operation
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), safety procedures, and PPE requirements
• Collaborate with team members while also working independently when needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
• Mid- to high-level experience in corrective and preventive maintenance
• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, manuals, and technical documents
• Solid mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills
• Working knowledge of CNC machine design and operation
• Experience using electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools
• Proficient with hand tools and specialized maintenance tools
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Basic math, reading, and writing skills required
• Strong multitasking and time management abilities
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and balancing
• Continuous use of hands and fingers for tools and equipment
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Exposure to high noise levels in a manufacturing environment
• Work environment includes fluctuating temperatures based on external conditions
