The Senior Automotive Mechanic supports a prototype vehicle environment, performing advanced diagnostics, repairs, and modifications on cars and trucks. This role also provides technical leadership by mentoring team members and overseeing technical deliverables to ensure customer quality standards are met.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain vehicle functionality by working from repair orders, work instructions, or leader direction, and by conducting detailed inspections.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions; remove and replace parts and components as required.
- Read, interpret, and follow service manuals, schematics, and written procedures.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members; serve as a subject matter expert to support team members and customers.
- Maintain accurate vehicle documentation by entering service notes, repair details, and work orders.
- Ensure shop equipment remains operational by following usage instructions, troubleshooting issues, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating repairs when needed.
- Lead daily shop organization, cleanliness, and safety efforts.

Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as an Automotive Mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and hands-on experience operating shop equipment.
- High attention to detail with solid organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while mentoring and training others.
- Ownership of personal tools, including a rolling toolbox.
- Ability to read, understand, and execute written procedures accurately.
- Certificate in Automotive Technology or a related field.
- State Mechanic Certification(s).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with vehicle alignments, A/C system repair, tire machines, and wheel balancers.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, including weekends, as needed.
