Description

In this role, the Sr. PLC Controls Engineer will design, develop, and support automated systems within our manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing control systems to improve safety, reliability, and productivity across the facility.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
• Develop and modify HMI/SCADA interfaces for machine operation and monitoring.
• Perform system diagnostics, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions on automation equipment.
• Support equipment startups, testing, commissioning, and validation.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to implement automation improvements.
• Maintain and update electrical schematics, control documentation, and system backups.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best engineering practices.
• Assist with project planning, timelines, vendor coordination, and equipment integration.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel.
Qualifications/Desired Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience working with industrial automation or machine controls.
• Proficiency with PLC programming (RSLogix/Studio 5000, TIA Portal, etc.).
• Experience with HMI development (FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition, or similar).
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, sensors, VFDs, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, ProfiNet, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and control schematics.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication, project management, and teamwork abilities.
• Robotics integration (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, etc.).
• Motion control systems and servo drives.
• Experience in automotive, manufacturing, or high-volume production environments.
• Knowledge of safety circuits, risk assessments, and machine safety standards.
