Position Overview:
In this role, you will be responsible for surfacing, prepping, and painting prototype automotive components and vehicles to meet high-quality automotive and show car standards. The ideal candidate has strong autobody and paint experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering precision craftsmanship.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Surface, prep, and paint prototype automotive components and vehicles
• Work with a variety of materials and finishes to meet customer specifications
• Maintain high-quality standards through close attention to detail and established procedures
• Perform detail panel surfacing and finishing work
• Read and follow hazard labels, safety instructions, and operating procedures
• Distinguish colors accurately for paint matching and finishing applications
• Read, understand, and comply with all company safety rules and regulations
• Operate industrial pneumatic equipment, including mixers, crushers, and openers
• Use manual and power tools such as drills, hammers, screwdrivers, ratchets, and wrenches
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Travel between buildings or work areas as needed
• Support overtime and weekend work when required to meet project deadlines
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the autobody and paint industry
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Must have own tools and rolling lockable toolbox
• Willingness to travel between facilities/buildings as needed
• Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when required
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with automotive gap and margin work for show car quality
• Strong body shop and detail panel surfacing experience
• Show car paint and finishing experience
• Prototype or custom automotive experience preferred
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds without assistance
• Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment for 6–8 hours per day
• Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in awkward or confined positions
• Daily use of personal protective equipment, including coveralls, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, and respiratory protection
• Regular exposure to paint fumes, solvents, noise, and industrial equipment
• Ability to work safely around hazardous tools, equipment, and materials while following all safety procedures
