Position Summary:
This role is for a hands-on, mechanically inclined automotive enthusiast for an Engine Dynamometer Technician II position supporting engine durability and development testing. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining engine test cells while working closely with engineers and support staff to execute customer testing programs.
The ideal candidate will have strong automotive mechanical experience, engine diagnostic abilities, and a passion for engines, performance, and testing environments.

Shift Availability
This position operates on multiple shifts Monday through Friday, with overtime and weekends required as needed.

Available Shifts
• Morning Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Afternoon Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
• Midnight Shift: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM

Please Note: There are currently 2 openings available per shift across both Level I and Level II positions (6 total openings).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate engine dynamometer test cells
• Install and remove engines from test cells
• Instrument engines and test equipment for durability and development testing
• Monitor engine performance and test operation during active testing
• Perform regular engine health checks and diagnostics
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues related to engines and test equipment
• Work closely with engineers and technical staff to execute customer test procedures
• Maintain accurate test records and documentation
• Perform teardown, inspection, and reassembly activities as required
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and laboratory standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the test cell and work area
• Support additional shop and testing activities as assigned

Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 4 years of automotive mechanical experience
• Strong engine mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office applications
• Must possess personal automotive tools and rolling toolbox
• Flexible schedule with willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate degree or technical training in an automotive-related field
• Experience with engine teardown and engine build activities
• Ability to follow engine assembly manuals and technical procedures
• Experience performing basic fabrication and mechanical assembly work
• Previous dynamometer testing experience preferred
• Experience or training with AVL PUMA and/or A&D iTest systems preferred
Work Environment
• Fast-paced automotive testing and laboratory environment
• Frequent exposure to engines, machinery, noise, heat, and moving mechanical components
• Standing, lifting, bending, and working around test equipment required
• Must be able to safely lift components and work with hand and power tools
