Position Overview
This role plays a key part from the initial phases of a project—supporting quoting efforts and collaborating with customers on specifications—through to assisting installation technicians during implementation. The position is based onsite at a facility and includes up to 10% travel, primarily during early project stages. This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop comprehensive design packages, including detailed schematics, cable layouts, bills of materials, and safety circuit diagrams that align with project requirements.
• Select and specify all hardware and software related to electrical and control systems, and prepare requisition documentation for procurement.
• Research and recommend appropriate components, ensuring compatibility with project standards and preferences.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and sales to ensure design alignment and execution.
• Integrate third-party equipment and electronic components into cohesive electrical systems.
• Extract and input data into internal systems for materials management and requisitions.
• Contribute to or lead internal and external design reviews as needed.
• Collaborate with shop floor teams on wiring and piping issues, offering solutions and guidance.
• Prepare accurate documentation, including electrical drawings and final bill of materials, for customer deliverables.
• Clearly convey technical concepts and project updates in both written and verbal communication.
• Perform additional tasks as necessary to support department goals and project timelines.
Qualifications/Desired Skills
• Proficient in creating electrical schematics using tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks Electrical.
• Experience designing control hardware using platforms like Allen Bradley and Siemens.
• Familiarity with programming and configuring Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
• Solid understanding of PLC-based machine control systems, including both hardware and software aspects.
• Ability to meet project deadlines, stay within budget, and deliver high-quality work.
• Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in systems and controls engineering, with a strong background in automation equipment, PLCs, robotics, and machine controls.
• Strong communication and troubleshooting abilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Capability to sit or stand for long durations, depending on project needs.
