Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Machinist Apprentice to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience
operating CNC machines, water jets, or laser cutting equipment. This apprenticeship will provide comprehensive hands-on
training and development, with the goal of transitioning into a lead machinist role responsible for managing projects, training
new team members, and driving operational excellence.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Machinery Operation: Operate machining equipment in accordance with safety and quality standards to produce high
precision parts.
• Apprenticeship Training: Participate in a structured apprenticeship program designed to develop technical skills,
knowledge, and proficiency in machining processes and equipment.
• Project Leadership: Once fully trained, take the lead on machining projects from start to finish, ensuring that all tasks
are executed to specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.
• Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of finished products to ensure they meet strict quality standards and
specifications; implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Team Training: Mentor and train junior machinists and apprentices, providing guidance on machinery operation,
safety protocols, and best practices in machining.
• Process Improvement: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to identify opportunities for process enhancements
and efficiency improvements within the machining environment.
• Maintenance Responsibilities: Assist in the routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machines and other
equipment to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate logs and documentation of machining activities, including job setups, adjustments,
and production reports for quality assurance and compliance.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machining technology program or related coursework is a plus.
• Previous experience operating CNC machines, water jets, or laser cutting equipment is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail, ensuring precision and quality in all machining work.
• Ability to work well in a team environment while also demonstrating leadership potential.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively train and guide others.
• Commitment to safety standards and practices in the workplace.
