Position Overview:
The Wheel & Tire Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of wheels and tires on a variety of vehicles. This role ensures that tires are mounted, balanced, and inspected properly to maintain vehicle safety and performance. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to follow established procedures in a fast-paced shop environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mount, dismount, and balance tires on passenger vehicles, trucks, or equipment
- Inspect tires and wheels for wear, damage, or safety concerns
- Perform tire rotations, flat repairs, and pressure checks
- Ensure proper torque specifications when installing wheels
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow shop procedures and safety standards when performing all work
- Document work completed and communicate any issues to supervisors or service advisors
- Assist with general shop duties as needed
- Work overtime or weekends when required to support operational needs
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures and work instructions
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Minimum 6 months of automotive technician, tire technician, or mechanic experience
- Basic knowledge of tire mounting, balancing, and repair procedures
- General mechanical aptitude and familiarity with shop tools and equipment
- Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment
