Position Overview:
This role is ideal for someone with a combination of fabrication and automotive mechanical experience — whether you are a mechanic with fabrication skills or a fabricator with automotive experience. This is an entry-level opportunity with hands-on learning, mentorship, and growth within a fast-paced garage and prototype shop environment. The Fabricator I will support shop operations by performing metal fabrication, welding, automotive-related tasks, and general shop support while working closely with experienced team members on project work and customer interactions.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform TIG and/or MIG welding on instrumentation, exhaust tubing, bosses, and related components
• Cut, shape, and fabricate metal materials using hand tools and shop equipment
• Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning and removing rust, grease, scale, and other impurities
• Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions
• Safely operate fabrication equipment including plasma cutters, band saws, material brakes, shears, and oxy-fuel torches
• Assist with automotive mechanical work, teardown, installation, and garage support activities
• Troubleshoot and maintain shop equipment by following operating procedures and performing preventative maintenance
• Support engineering, fabrication, and garage shop teams on various prototype and custom projects
• Participate in daily shop organization, housekeeping, and cleanup activities
• Follow all company safety procedures and shop practices
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply
• Combination of fabrication and automotive mechanical experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of TIG and/or MIG welding
• Ability to safely operate fabrication and cutting equipment
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
• Must provide own tools and rolling toolbox
Preferred Qualifications
• Certificate in Welding Technology or related field
• Previous experience in automotive, prototype, fabrication, or manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with vehicle systems, exhaust fabrication, and metalworking processes
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift materials for extended periods
• Ability to work safely in a shop and garage environment
• Ability to operate hand tools, welding equipment, and fabrication machinery safely
