Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Mazak CNC Lathe Programmer/Operator to join our precision machining team. This role requires an expert in CNC lathe operation and programming, with deep experience in Mazak equipment and Mazatrol Smart controls. The ideal candidate has a strong background in setting up, programming, and producing close-tolerance parts with minimal supervision in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills (primarily Mazak) to perform precision machining on a variety of materials and components.
• Program and edit CNC code using Mazatrol Smart controls; adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling to maintain quality standards.
• Perform complete setups, including tooling, workpiece holding, work offsets, and coordinate systems based on technical prints.
• Conduct first-piece inspections and ensure ongoing quality throughout production runs using precision measuring tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve machining and dimensional issues to maintain high-quality output and production efficiency.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Change and maintain tooling as required; monitor tool wear and performance throughout production.
• Ensure proper use of micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including job travelers, inspection reports, and machine logs.
• Adhere to all company safety protocols, quality standards, and housekeeping procedures.
Qualifications
• 10+ years of hands-on experience as a CNC Programmer/Operator in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in operating Mazak CNC lathes and mills is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Mazatrol Smart programming required; conversational and G-code programming experience a plus.
• High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certifications preferred.
• Strong understanding of machine setup, tool selection, offsets, and machining best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances on complex parts.
• Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 15 lbs and stand for extended periods.
