Position Overview
The Machine Builder is responsible for mechanically assembling, building, and testing components and machines used in automation tooling systems. The job focuses on interpreting engineering drawings, fitting parts, and ensuring assemblies meet customer specifications.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze assembly blueprints and specification manuals to plan building operations.
- Fit and assemble tools, machine components, and sub-assemblies using engineering drawings, customer specifications, and technical manuals.
- Use precision measurement instruments (calipers, gauges, micrometers) to verify part conformity and identify mechanical issues.
- Build assembly components using bolts, pins, clamps, screws, rivets, etc.
- Assemble, set up, and operate machines to test functioning and ensure they meet specifications; may manually test assemblies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve build issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Experience: Typically 2+ years of machine or tool building experience.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and layout equipment according to blueprints. J
- Proficient use of hand and power tools (saws, grinders, drills, precision measurement tools).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical standards and tooling setup.
- Ability to safely operate equipment like forklifts and cranes.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
