Position Overview
Synergy Solutions is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician II to support advanced automotive development and vehicle testing programs. In this role, you will install, configure, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation systems used to collect critical performance data on prototype and development vehicles. This position is ideal for technicians with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Build, modify, and install low-voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring harnesses according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• Install, adjust, and calibrate instrumentation equipment including thermocouples, pressure transducers, sensors, fiber optics, accelerometers, shunts, and data acquisition systems.
• Assemble and install auxiliary battery systems and other low-voltage electrical components.
• Collaborate with engineers, mechanics, fabricators, and customers to determine proper sensor locations based on Instrumentation Requirement Lists (IRLs).
• Perform complete functional inspections and instrumentation validation in accordance with Instrumentation Quality Assurance (IQA) procedures.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair low-voltage automotive electrical systems and instrumentation wiring.
• Utilize electronic test equipment including multimeters, power supplies, function generators, and other diagnostic tools.
• Maintain accurate service records, project documentation, and repair notes within internal tracking systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on shop equipment and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues as needed.
• Follow established shop procedures, engineering specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Support prototype vehicle builds and testing activities while meeting project deadlines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician or in a related automotive electrical, testing, or prototype build environment.
• Experience building and installing automotive low-voltage wiring harnesses.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Experience with soldering, crimping, tube bending, component layout, and vehicle electrical packaging.
• Strong troubleshooting skills involving automotive electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Reliable attendance with the flexibility to work overtime and weekends as project schedules require.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience installing and calibrating thermocouples, pressure transducers, accelerometers, and fiber optic instrumentation.
• Certificate in Automotive Technology or a related technical field.
• ASE Certification(s).
• State Mechanic Certification(s).
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience supporting prototype vehicle development, automotive testing, or validation programs.
• Familiarity with automotive data acquisition systems and vehicle instrumentation best practices.
