Position Overview
Under professional direction, the Quality Inspector evaluates hardware documentation, performs laboratory procedures, inspects products, measures process performance, records data and prepares formal reports.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets materials, such as work orders, inspection manuals and blueprints, to determine inspection and test methods/procedures.
- Creates inspection criteria and check sheets for all incoming product
- Inspects materials, products, and work in progress for conformance to defined requirements (engineering drawings and specifications).
- Marks items for acceptance or rejection, records test results and inspection data, and compares findings with specifications to ensure conformance to standards.
- Follows NCM Procedure for products, materials, etc. not meeting specifications.
- Rejects products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
- Confers with vendors and others regarding inspection results, recommends corrective procedures, and compiles reports of results, recommendations, and needed repairs.
- Tests and measures finished products, components, or assemblies for functioning, operation, accuracy, and to verify adherence to functional specifications.
- Reads dials and meters to ensure that equipment is operating according to specifications and is calibrated.
- Responsible for control of calibrated measurement equipment per Corporate QA
- Must be competent with standard layout equipment: calipers, micrometers, height gage and dial indicators.
- Additional duties as assigned
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- A high-school diploma or GED
- A minimum of two years of on-the-job experience in mechanical inspection and visual appearance standards in Plastics
- Experience with automotive, prototype, and aerospace preferred
- Team player with excellent organizational and communication skills, positive attitude & high attention to detail
- Excel (Level: High), Word, Power Point, and Outlook
