Position Overview:
This position is ideal for someone looking to start or grow a career in metrology, dimensional analysis, and automotive testing. The Dimensional Analysis Technician I will support engineering teams by performing precision measurements, operating dimensional analysis equipment, and preparing technical reports. This role offers hands-on experience with advanced measurement technologies including Laser Scanning and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), while working in a fast-paced technical environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with measuring hard points and collecting 3D laser scan data for components and complete assemblies using: Manual measurement devices / Laser Scanning equipment / Fixed and Portable Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
• Set up and tear down components on surface plates
• Support the interpretation of technical dimensional documents and engineering data
• Prepare dimensional analysis reports and documentation for engineering teams and customers
• Perform scheduled calibration checks and routine maintenance of CMM equipment
• Participate in daily surface plate cleaning and organization activities
• Work closely with engineers and team members on project support and customer requirements
• Maintain accuracy, organization, and attention to detail throughout all projects
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Ability to follow instructions and learn new technologies quickly
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work overtime as needed
Preferred
• Certificate or coursework in CAD, Metrology, or a related technical field
• 1+ year of automotive, technical, or manufacturing experience
• Strong math and geometry skills
• Familiarity with automotive components and assemblies
• Experience navigating CAD models and PolyWorks software
• Exposure to Laser Scanning or CMM equipment
• Hands-on training with advanced dimensional analysis equipment
