Position Overview:
This entry-level position supports engine durability and development testing within a fast-paced engineering environment. The ideal candidate will have automotive mechanical experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a willingness to learn engine testing operations. The Engine Dynamometer Technician I is responsible for assisting with engine setup, instrumentation, monitoring engine testing, performing engine health checks, and supporting post-test teardown activities. This role works closely with engineers and technical staff to execute customer-driven engine testing programs.

Shift Availability
Monday – Friday / Overtime and weekend work required as needed.
Available Shifts:
• Morning Shift — 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Afternoon Shift — 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM
• Midnight Shift — 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM

Please note: There are currently two openings available per shift across both Level I and Level II positions (6 total openings).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with engine installation and setup in engine dynamometer test cells.
• Support engine durability and development testing activities.
• Install and connect test instrumentation, sensors, and related equipment.
• Monitor engines and test equipment during operation to ensure safe and accurate testing.
• Perform regular engine health checks and basic troubleshooting during testing.
• Assist with engine removal and teardown activities after test completion.
• Work closely with engineers and support staff to execute customer testing requirements.
• Maintain accurate records, test documentation, and daily reports.
• Follow all safety procedures, test cell protocols, and company policies.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, tools, and equipment.

Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of automotive mechanical experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in automotive or engine performance.
• Basic engine mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
• Must possess personal hand tools and a rolling toolbox.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate degree or technical training in an automotive-related field.
• Experience with engine teardown and assembly procedures.
• Ability to follow engine assembly manuals and technical instructions.
• Basic fabrication and assembly skills.
• Experience or training with engine dynamometer control systems such as AVL PUMA or A&D iTest.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work in a shop environment for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
• Ability to work around running engines, machinery, noise, and heat safely.
Work Environment
• Automotive engineering and engine testing laboratory environment.
• Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, engine fluids, heat, and noise.
• PPE required according to company safety standards.
