Description
We’re hiring a permanent Application Engineer for an established IT/Engineering client. Synergy Solutions matches tech professionals with long-term roles in development, infrastructure, support, and cybersecurity—perfect for candidates seeking career advancement in a stable, growth-oriented environment.
Position Overview:
Lead technical execution from pre-sales feasibility through deployment and final customer acceptance. This role translates customer requirements and real-world manufacturing conditions into a scalable, repeatable deployment process, including data collection, CAD and weld-feature preparation, operations file development, system validation, and on-site troubleshooting. You will serve as the technical foundation that drives sales momentum and ensures successful production rollouts.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Pre-sales technical support
- Support the Technical Sales Lead during discovery with feasibility assessment and technical scoping.
- Define inspection requirements and acceptance criteria: features, tolerances, cycle time, environmental constraints, line integration needs.
- Participate in demos/POCs and document technical outcomes and next steps.
Customer data intake & preparation
- Request and manage customer inputs: CAD models, weld files, feature maps, tolerances, part variants/revisions.
- Process CAD files and maintain revision discipline.
- Create/maintain operations files from weld/feature maps; ensure traceability from requirements to configuration.
Deployment execution & troubleshooting
- Execute on-site deployments: system setup, calibration/alignment, verification runs, data capture, and acceptance testing.
- Troubleshoot issues in real time (optics/lighting, fixturing/part presentation variability, software configuration, network/IT constraints).
- Coordinate with NSV/SkillReal engineering for escalations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Project execution support
- Contribute to formal project plans for deployments (tasks, timelines, dependencies, risk mitigation).
- Manage technical deliverables schedule and communicate status/risks to COO and customer stakeholders.
Hardware and vendor/integrator coordination (technical side)
- Support hardware specification for R&D and deployments (cameras, lenses, lighting, cabling, GPUs, mounts).
- Assist vendor/integrator technical coordination: integration readiness, requirements verification, onsite logistics.
Customer onboarding, IT/security, and compliance support
- Provide technical responses for customer security/compliance questionnaires and vendor onboarding portals (in coordination with COO/IT/security lead as applicable).
- Ensure deployments meet customer constraints (network segmentation, access controls, documentation requirements).
Documentation & continuous improvement
- Build and maintain standard work: checklists, deployment SOPs, data intake templates, acceptance test procedures.
- Capture and communicate product gaps/feature requests with evidence from field deployments.
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, applications engineering, metrology/inspection, industrial automation, or machine vision.
- Strong CAD literacy (reading/working with CAD, understanding datums/features; ability to manage revisions).
- Comfort working hands-on at customer sites in production environments.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset: structured problem-solving, clear documentation, and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with vision systems (cameras, optics, lighting), 3D inspection/metrology, or robotics cell integration.
- Familiarity with BIW/welding/fastening manufacturing processes and common defect modes.
- Exposure to IT/security constraints in plant environments (network access, vendor onboarding, basic cybersecurity concepts).
- Sales experience is a plus
KPIs (examples)
- Time from data receipt → operations file ready
- Deployment cycle time and on-time delivery
- First-pass acceptance rate / # of issues found during SAT vs after go-live
- Mean time to resolution (MTTR) for deployment issues
- # of deployments supported per quarter and customer satisfaction feedback
