Position Overview
The Plastics Mold Operator is responsible for operating and tending plastic molding machines (e.g., injection molding, compression molding) to mold thermoplastic parts or products, ensuring efficient production and quality standards are met. This role involves monitoring machine operations, inspecting products for defects, and maintaining a safe and clean work area.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate plastic injection molding presses and related auxiliary equipment according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Load raw plastic material (pellets or mixed compounds) into machine hoppers or molds.
- Monitor continuous operation of machines to ensure products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, making minor adjustments as necessary.
- Perform visual inspection and use measuring instruments to check molded components for surface and dimension defects, ensuring conformance to quality standards.
- Trim, degate, or clip excess material from parts using hand tools and, as needed, grind scrap plastic for reuse.
- Complete required production reports and documentation, including cycle times, scrap numbers, and downtime.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition, following 5S principles.
- Assist with mold changes and machine setup/shutdown processes as directed by a supervisor or process technician.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production issues, equipment problems, or material needs.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate protective equipment like safety glasses and steel-toed boots (if required).

Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience with plastic molding or manufacturing is often preferred, but on-the-job training may be provided.
- Familiarity with basic machine functions and the ability to use basic hand tools effectively.
- Strong attention to detail for quality control and inspection tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, handle frequent movements of hands/arms, and potentially lift up to 25 pounds.
- Reliable attendance and a team-player attitude
