Position Overview:
This position is ideal for early-career engineers looking to apply their expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to solve real-world engineering challenges. Candidates with extensive industry experience are not the target for this role.
The CAE Analyst II will support the upfront design and development of products across the automotive, aerospace, entertainment, and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will build FEA models, perform NVH and durability analyses, and provide sound engineering recommendations supported by analytical reasoning and hand calculations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop NVH and durability finite element models for applications in automotive, aerospace, and entertainment industries.
• Perform linear, nonlinear, and dynamic structural simulations using commercial CAE tools such as Nastran, Abaqus, OptiStruct, and ANSYS.
• Post-process simulation results and provide engineering insights and design recommendations.
• Prepare and present detailed technical reports for internal teams and customer meetings.
• Create Python scripts to automate workflows and improve analysis efficiency.
• Quickly learn and apply new CAE tools and methodologies.
• Manage analysis files in accordance with company data-retention policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional CAE teams to enhance predictive accuracy and reduce development cycles.
• Execute projects with minimal supervision, including direct communication with customers.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
• Support the development of new technologies and engineering processes.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Required Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• Coursework in Finite Element Analysis, Strength of Materials, Mechanical Behavior of Metals, Plastics & Composites, and Noise & Vibration.
Experience
• 1–3 years of experience in NVH and Durability FEA modeling.
• Hands-on experience building FEA models using ANSA or HyperMesh.
• Experience performing linear, nonlinear, and dynamic structural analyses.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and vehicle structures under various load cases.
• Knowledge of NVH and durability development principles.
• Ability to validate simulation inputs and results using hand calculations and free body diagrams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with finite element pre-processors, solvers, and post-processors, including Altair HyperWorks, ANSA, and META.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience with full vehicle NVH and durability models.
• Familiarity with fatigue and life prediction tools such as nCode.
• Experience with process automation using Python, Excel VBA, or C.
• Experience integrating real-world test data and performing experimental validation.
• U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency to comply with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements.
