Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Trumpf 5-Axis Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating advanced TRUMPF 5-axis laser cutting systems to produce high-precision sheet metal components that meet engineering specifications and customer quality standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with TRUMPF laser systems and TruTops software, a strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, and the ability to optimize production while maintaining exceptional quality.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Set up, calibrate, and operate TRUMPF 5-axis laser cutting machines safely and efficiently.
• Program, edit, and optimize laser cutting programs using TRUMPF TruTops software.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and manufacturing specifications.
• Produce complex, high-precision sheet metal components while maintaining strict dimensional tolerances.
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to improve efficiency, maximize throughput, and minimize material waste.
• Troubleshoot machine, programming, and production issues while collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic machine troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate production, inventory, and job status within the company's ERP system.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of experience programming and operating TRUMPF 5-axis laser systems.
• Proficiency with TRUMPF TruTops programming software.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and laser cutting technology.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
• Experience performing machine setup, tooling changes, and program modifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
• Ability to work independently while meeting production schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Epicor ERP or a similar manufacturing ERP system.
• Experience tracking production, labor, inventory, and work orders electronically.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Previous experience in a high-volume or precision sheet metal manufacturing environment.
